SARAO invites South African unemployed graduates to apply for Internship Programme 2024.

The SARAO Graduate In-Training Programme is designed to provide recent graduates with practical experience in their fields of study. This program aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application by offering hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to cutting-edge projects.

Graduates in this program may work on various aspects of radio astronomy, including engineering, data science, software development, and project management. They gain valuable skills and experience that can help them advance their careers in the industry or academia.

Requirements:

South African citizens who completed or are in the final year of studies in:

  • BEng / BSc Eng in: Electronics / Electrical / Mechatronic / Computer Engineering / Radio Frequency / Embedded Systems / Power Systems
  • BSc (Hons) Computer Science / Applied Mathematics / Physics / Astronomy / Astrophysics
  • BEng / BSc Eng Mechanical Engineering
  • BEng / BSc Computer Science
  • BEng / Bsc Eng Construction Management / Quantity Surveying / Draughting / Civil Engineering
  • BSc (Hons) Information Technology
  • BEng Industrial Engineering

Important Notes:

  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a mandatory online assessment as part of the selection process.
  • Successful graduates will be placed in SARAO Cape Town and Hartebeesthoek (HartRAO) Offices for a period of 3 years, commencing in January 2025.
  • SARAO will offer financial assistance to successful graduates who register for a Masters degree (part-time), at a South African university while in the graduate programme.
